July Birthday Dinner

I love getting together with my family once a month to celebrate all the birthdays that take place during that month. Before we had Luke there were four months that didn't have a birthday in them so when I wanted another baby I wanted to make sure I had one in one of those four months. But then a little heart surgery got in the way for either January or February and kind of messed up June too. So we were shooting for July. I was a little sad when we found out Luke's due date was August 31st but thought July might be possible since I have never carried a baby full term. Well Luke came July 31st just after one in the afternoon. I was so happy to have my July baby, even if he did stay in the hospital for two weeks.

We had dinner at Jill's house. It was a very good dinner. Hard not to eat a lot since everything was so yummy! After dinner we roasted marshmallows and had smores, and also homemade raspberry ice cream. Grandpa combined the two for his dessert.

Luke opened his present from Grandpa and Grandma, although now I'm wishing he would have waited since it was stolen yesterday. He was so excited to get his scooter. We put his name on it in red vinyl letters so he'd be able to know which was his and which was his friends. He was riding it really good and having lots of fun on it. Now we are just hoping someone's conscience gets the better of them and it is returned. Or somebody's parents realize their child is riding a scooter and wonders where it came from. He's a little too young to understand that it is gone. He thinks it is lost and we'll find it at some point. I hope we do but I'm not counting on it. If nothing else he'll be getting a new bike for his birthday on Saturday and so he'll be able to enjoy that.

I can't believe my baby is turning 4 on Saturday. He was so hard to get here but so worth everything we had to go through. We love having him as part of our family.
