Trip to Gateway
Haley starts school on Monday so yesterday was the last time for the kids to have some fun on our weekly Tuesday activities. And I guess we had to finish the summer off with a bang. We decided to go to Gateway to play in the fountain. We rode Trax downtown. We figured Ian and Luke would have some fun riding on the train. I guess it was decided that we would get off at the Temple Square stop and go over to the Church museum. After we got off my mom asked where Haley was. Haley was right at the doors with us so I was looking around and I finally called out for her. No answer as the train drives away. For some reason she was still on the train. Thinking the train stopped at the Energy Solutions Arena and waits, Jill and my mom told me to run after it. I would just get her there. I took off running, in flip flops, after the train. The whole time I'm panicking knowing the train keeps going and I don't know where it goes anymore. And there is no way in heck I'm gonna catch the train. So I pull out my cell phone and call Zach. He says "Hi" and I yell into the phone "I've lost Haley". I figured he could find a number to call or something and get someone on the train to find her. He's trying to make sense of what I'm saying as I'm crying and running down South Temple. He didn't know that we had gotten off the train at Temple Square so he thought she was lost somewhere at Gateway. As I'm trying to explain to him whats going on I get to the corner of South Temple and 300 west and look kiddie corner and I see Haley waiting to cross the street with a Lady. I feel relief and tell Zach I've found her and I'd call him back once I got Haley and got the whole story. When they got to me I thanked this lady over and over again and she went her way and Haley and I went back to meet up with the rest of our group. Apparently the doors closed before she could get down and when she pushed the button to open them again they wouldn't open. She was pretty freaked out. But there were some great people on the train that were willing to help her and told her they would help her find her mom. She was so brave!!! And she got back on the train to ride to Gateway and then to come home. So now that I've documented that we can go on with the rest of what we did.
At the church history museum they have and Exhibit called "I Am A Child of God" and the kids get to go and do some fun activities. They can dress up as Angels and Shepherds in the Nativity. They can play in the hospital nursery with babies. They can build temples with blocks, color a paper to make a stain glass window, and many more things. The kids have lots of fun doing this.

When we were done at the Church Museum we headed back to the train so we could ride down to Gateway for lunch. We all made it off the train this time. I stood at the door and held the button till everyone was down. After lunch we went down to the fountain and played for a little while. Luke didn't really like it but the girls got soaked.

Luke decided he was tired so he climbed into his stroller and had a nap. He woke up in time for the ride home on the train.
We made it home safe and sound and are hoping that never happens again. One day I'm sure we'll be able to laugh about it but I'm not there yet. I don't ever want to have to experience that again. We used to ride the train all the time and have never had a problem and I'm sure next time we ride we won't have this problem but I'm in no hurry to try it again. Not to mention the fact that I think it's cheaper to drive with the price of the tickets.

Oh, my heart is still racing- I am so glad you found Haley, and that she was blessed with people who helped her.
