Cousin's Campout

This year we went to Great Basin National Park for a campout. We left on Sunday the 6th and came home on Wednesday the 9th. Here are some pictures of the trip....

Luke loved playing in the dirt. I was really worried I wouldn't be able to get his clothes clean but I think they came clean.

He pretty much always had a dirty face.

Zach dropped his can of vanilla coke and it sprung a leak so he had to drink it out of the side of the can.

The next morning the kids decorated some visor to wear while on the trip. I don't know if any of them made it home. If they did I don't know where they ended up. Oh well it was fun for them.

We went on a cave tour of Lehman Caves that afternoon. The girls were a little scared. Fifteen years ago I went to this cave with my family. So it was fun to go back and see it with Zach and the kids.

There were some very narrow parts to the cave and it was hard to get Luke through them.

Luke wanted to wonder off on his own and was mad when we stopped him.

It was fun to go back and see the cave. We were sad that our tour didn't take us to the spot that my cousin Katelynn fell in 15 years ago. But Kevin, Natascha, Blaine and Parry's went on a longer tour and got almost to the spot.

Luke didn't get a very good nap that day so he fell asleep in his chair by the side of the campfire.

The next day we went on a hike. For some reason I thought it was and easy 3/4 mile hike but it turned into a little harder 3 mile hike. We hiked past two lakes. The kids had fun trying to skip rocks.

This was the first lake we hiked to. Dallin found a log and sat on it and used another log to row in the lake.

Luke loved throwing rock in the lake. I think a few ended up in his pockets and I found them at home while doing laundry.

By the second lake there were some pretty bright pink flowers. I don't think this picture really does them justice.

The girls saw this and said we were at Arches and seeing the Delicate Arch.

While we were on our hike some Chipmunks got into one of my mom's bins and enjoyed some peanuts. They were hanging around our campsite for most of the afternoon. We watched one enjoy the crust of somebody's jelly sandwich.

Luke could not keep his face clean. He really love the dirt. I didn't mind it on his face but I sure didn't like it in his hair.

Haley and Grandpa sat down to read and Haley was so tired she fell asleep on him.

I think the time we were gone was about right. I was ready to come home on Wednesday and get clean. I don't like going that long without a shower. It was nice to have cool nights to sleep in but it has been nice to be home sleeping in my own bed. It was a fun trip and I'm glad we went. I was ready to forget it the week before but I think I always get that way before a trip and then end up enjoying myself while we are there.
