Marathon Training Update

I know there are a few other runners that keep tabs on this blog, and they tend to blog more about running than I do, but I thought I'd give a marathon training update, as there's just more than 2 months until the big day (YIKES!).

June was awesome for me. Each week was over 20 miles and my longest run was 14.4 miles. I logged over 100 miles that month, for the first time ever. I loved June.

July sucked, except for last week. Didn't run much at all, due to having a cutback week that got cut back too much, and a family camping trip, that did happen to include a really painfully slow 10-mile trail run... tried twisting my ankle, falling down while tripping over roots... but it was beautiful! Last week I logged 31.8 miles, my first ever over-30 week... and this week, I have yet to drag my rear end out of bed for a single run, but I'm going to make up for it by going for 10 or so tonight and 6 or so tomorrow. Yes, I WILL!

Got the Provo River Half Marathon coming up in a week and a half (August 11). I ran that 2 years ago and finished in 2:30:37. I am sooo ready to SQUASH that time this year. By about 10 minutes, with any luck. I will surely post a full report here.

Anyway, there's the report. This year I've run just over 416 miles so far, which really seems incredible to me. I need to average something in the 25 miles per week range to hit my annual goal of 1000 miles this year. I'm hoping next year to do some serious running and get in 2008 miles in 2008, and 4 marathons. Did I really just say that???

I so know the feeling of not getting things in. I've been good with my long runs, but it's been so hard to get all of my midweek running in. You have some serious mileage going on. Good luck on the Provo River! I was going to do that one, but now have to be out of town, so I'm doing Hobble Creek. I will be happy if I can just break 2:30. I'm sure you can drop 10 minutes.

wow! impressive. i tried training for a marathon once. let's just say it didn't work out too well for me, my knees like to give out at the 2 hour mark... so now i just run short distances. but good luck!

thanks for your comment and offer. it probably sounds cliche... but really we like everything! i can't really think of anything that we don't really like. we've got our basics: chicken curry, chicken tacos, taco soup, chicken salad... nothing too gourmet. but i've got alot of our favorites posted to the blog:

other than that, i'd love your suggestions!
