Okay, I'm going nuts

About a month ago I registered online for the St. George Marathon. Now this marathon is one of the most popular in the US, getting many more entrants than the 6900 runners they allow in the race. So they hold a "lottery" to determine who gets in and who doesn't. The lottery took place last Thursday, May 3rd, and the results were said to be posted today, May 8th.

So I get up at about 6:30 this morning and check, and lo and behold, the results are on the webpage... and my name isn't among them. After feeling a mixture of disappointment and relief, I get ready for work. Then I check the forums on the webpage and notice that someone has counted and there's only about 3200 names listed on the website as entrants. So about half of the names didn't get posted. So I, and I'm sure a few hundred others, sent an email to the marathon people.

Now the website says "We are currently experiencing problems with the 2007 Lottery results. We are quickly working to resolve the issues. Please do not call our general Marathon information number regarding the lottery. Thank you."

Sheesh. More anticipation. Leave it to a bunch of Utahns to run a lottery!

I don't know you, but I can't resist commenting. I also registered for the St. George marathon and like you, didn't see my name when I checked the results. Just for fun I was looking at the names of those who were selected to see if I recognized anyone and lo and behold saw my name, but backwards. I had mailed in my entry and they switched my first and last name. Now, three weeks into my training and I wish I wasn't curious. I would be blissfully unaware of my fate and probably not cursing running right now.

Best of luck to you!
